" صَلِّ صلاةَ امرئٍ موَدّعٍ يظن أن لن يعودَ، وأظهر اليأس مما في أيدي الناس؛ فإنه الغنى، وإياك والطمع وطلب الحاجات، فإنه الفقر الحاضر، وقد علمت أنه لا بد لك من قولٍ؛ فإياك مما يُعتذر منه ".
وقال مالك رحمه الله:
" من أكثر الكلام ومراجعة الناس ذهب بهاؤه ".
